Background: In patriarchal structure violence is common and deep rooted mainly because of striking imbalance between men and women. The role and duties of both the genders are prescribed and have been carried out similarly from generation to generation. It contributes in acceptance of violence where dominant is considered to be a manly trait while subordinating is a trait of women. The research highlights the factors that are associated with violence in patriarchal culture. Furthermore, the problem of the research is to determine the root causes which have made violence socially acceptable in patriarchal culture. Methods: For the purpose of this research, the secondary data has been collected to achieve the research goals and objectives and address the research problem. The data has been collected from different databases such as Google, Scholars and online libraries. Moreover, it was made sure that the journals, articles and papers that are being used in this research are not older than 2015 to gain updated information about the causes and impact of violence on patriarchal culture. The researcher has accessed the data from authentic publishers such as Elsevier, MDPI and Springer. Findings: The findings of the study suggest that male dominance and their attitude is being promoted by patriarchal cultural norms which is essential for addressing domestic violence in patriarchal culture. This analysis is based on highlighting the root cause of violence and its social acceptance in patriarchal culture which highlights the importance of deconstructing the traditional practices towards both the genders. Women with limited education and skills, being dependent on men, pass on the trauma of domestic violence from one generation to another. Wife beating was legitimized historically through a number of policies. It positions women as minors where men were allowed to exercise power over them. Recommendations: It is essential to maintain gender equality in society for eliminating violence in patriarchal culture. Both men and women should have the right to represent their views, opinions and participate in the decision-making process. It can eliminate traditional masculinity among men and evolve them for addressing the issue of power imbalance and being engaged in expression of healthy masculinity.
